Meeting and Planning
On Friday evening and all day on Saturday, the executive board of the ABWM of WV met for our annual spring meeting. It was a time for us to review the past year and continue working on plans for the the ministries and missionary project for the months ahead. We reviewed your comments and suggestions from last year’s events as we considered what we need to do to meet your needs at the events this year. But these plans were not made just by the women in the committees. Before every session started, we prayed for guidance and wisdom from God to ensure our decisions would glorify Him as well as help the women of the American Baptist churches across West Virginia to grow, serve, and build.
Meeting at Parchment Valley
Over the hours we met at Parchment Valley, we covered a lot of ground, accomplishing many goals and putting plans into order. I thought this was a great opportunity to share with you some of the exciting things we covered this weekend. The executive board makes up several committees that focus on each of the events, mission project, and ministries offered. Each committee spent a considerable amount of time working on their specific assignment. Below are some highlights:
Annual Conference Committee (June 6th at PV) We are working on getting a special guest speaker which will be announced as soon as plans are confirmed. Officer training sessions will be combined so we can offer more sessions on how to start, lead, and run a women’s ministry in your church. Worship music will be provided by New Life Girls again this year.
Spiritual Growth Retreat Committee (September 18-20 at PV) The theme for this year’s SGR is “Knock on God’s Door” which will flow through the messages, songs, and crafts. Cecily Thompson will be our keynote speaker with Sandra Lutz providing the Bible Study. More information will be coming soon.
Women’s Day Committee (October 15 at New Baptist, Huntington) “Nothing new under the sun” will be our theme for this one-day event. Carmon Boso will be leading our worship with Sara McClure delivering the afternoon message. Koreen Villers will bring special music and install new officers.
Speaking of new officers…. the Nominating Committee is seeking women to fill several positions. Detailed information on this will be shared through a MMM very soon - so please be praying about how you might be able to serve the women of the state.
The Finance Committee made the motion to provide $1,000 to three women scheduled for international mission trips this spring - Melanie Swisher (Cuba), Brenda Rosier (Haiti), and Shelly Dawson (Kenya). Please pray for these women as they go to the ends of the earth to share the Good News.
Many more wonderful things were discussed and planned. Be sure to check your MMM each week as we highlight more about the information above as well as WV Hope partners, Scholarship girls updates, Personal Development, and more. If you have any ideas or suggestions for committees, please feel free to leave a reply below.
