Devotions
Meet Charmaine….
Hello everyone, my name is Charmaine and I usually start by saying I'm a farm girl! Truth is I only lived on a farm until I was 12, but it continues to impact who I am. I am the youngest of six children….
Spring Rally in Kanawha Valley
The Kanawha Valley Association held the first spring rally for the 2026 Southwest Area. The women were excited to see dear friends as they gathered at Dunbar First Baptist Church on Thursday, April 16th in the evening.
Women’s Ministry that Contagious
I would like to recognize today the Williamson First Baptist Church Women’s Ministry and highlight this beautiful group of women of the Logan-Mingo Association. Thursday, March 12th, Sandy Foster-Curry and I had the privilege of meeting up with the Leota Campbell circle and a few others at their church to see what’s happening in their women’s ministry……
Holy Week Devotions
Let’s look at Matthew this week as we look at this special week for all Christians. I encourage you to get your Bibles and dig into these scriptures before the day gets away from you. This Holy week can get lost in the running from here and there even in all our good intentions of church “busyness”. Take time this morning and every day this week to observe the Holy. Let’s take a look back on yesterday, where this week started.
What about the donkey?
I did some research into donkeys as it piqued my interested this week. I thought I would share some of the facts I discovered in hopes we all can see just how much that little donkey added to Jesus’ historical entrance into Jerusalem that started off a week that ended with the greatest event in history.
She Broke the Flask!
As I filled my husband in on the true gift given by Mary, I thought to myself that this would make a wonderful devotion for today’s Monday Morning Memo, so…. here we are. You may very well know the cultural significance of the alabaster flask and its contents, or you may not be aware that what Mary really anointed Jesus with went far deeper than some expensive oil.
Kids at Camp Cowen
They’re coming for the fun, the friends, the pool, the games, the singing, the crafts, the late-night-giggle-frenzy, the cooks parade, the campfires, the four square, the gaga pit. On Friday, they will go home with a cool T-shirt, only half of the stuff they brought, and wonderful memories. But they leave with something else…. planted seeds.
In the Doghouse?
As I read over the tips for getting out the doghouse, I thought to myself that these are viable options to consider when I’ve done something to upset or hurt someone, even possibly angered and frustrate them. I thought I would look into the Bible to find someone who ended up in the doghouse to discover just how they handled the situation.
91st Annual Women’s Conference is a Wrap!
Nearly 125 women gathered at Parchment Valley Conference Center in Ripley, WV on Saturday for a great day of learning, inspiration, and fellowship at the 91st Annual Women’s Conference. A variety of workshops were offered to help the women of our AB churches across the state to start and run a women’s ministry in their church and community…..
Weeds…. again!
As I was weeding this past week, I thought about the post I wrote last year; how I related weeds to the sins in our lives. Just about that time I was yanking on a fairly large dandelion growing between some sandstone steps that lead up to our fire pit. It wouldn’t budge, but I was determined to get the roots in hopes it wouldn’t return. I firmly grasped the root at the base, slowly wiggled it, and then pulled straight up. Low and behold, all the roots came with the weed. Of course, it caused me to fall backward from which I am sure all of God’s creation got a good laugh.
Vessels & Characteristics
Meet the keynote speaker for the 2025 Annual Conference, Cecily Thompson, and get an inside look at and come prepared for her message titled, “What kind of vessel are you?”
She is deeply passionate about women’s ministry as she stated: “Ministry for me began with a very tentative longing in my heart to love and do life with other women. I had no idea what I had to offer but often found myself looking back on my life with regret and thinking, “If I had only known.” I soon realized that many other women were struggling with trying to do it all, be everything to everyone, and wondering why they were always striving but felt nothing except weariness and failure.”
