Event Planning Resource

It is that time of year again…. Fall Rally time! Women all across West Virginia AB churches are planning their event to bring the women’s groups of the churches within their association together for a time of fellowship, planning, and learning. A Fall Rally may seem like a small event compared to other things happening in the church, community, and state levels. However, it is no small task to plan and put on a Fall Rally. Just ask any of the ladies who have had (or does have) the responsibility of making sure it goes off smoothly. I held a workshop during our Annual Conference in June with some ideas for setting up, planning, and preparing for events, and I thought this was a great time to share some of those resources. The one I want to share today is The Ultimate Church Event Planning Guide & Checklist from Forge Ministries. Although Forge is a ministry where you can find and hire people to speak at your event as well as other products and services, they also provide some free resources such as the guide linked above. I encourage you to check out their resources to help you with your women’s ministry and events throughout the year. Below is a few exerts from the planning guide.

Deciding to hold an event for your church or ministry is a big decision that can leave you feeling overwhelmed by required planning and excited about how God will move in the lives of those who attend. A lot of work goes into your event, and you need a resource to help you know what to do, where to start, and when to begin planning. The Ultimate Church Event Planning Checklist was developed from decades of knowledge and experience coming alongside churches and ministries and helping to ensure their event is successful. Your event is unique, just like your church or ministry, so we welcome you to adapt this checklist according to your needs. The goal of this resource is to outline important considerations, guide you through planning your event, and give you ideas and tools through your post-event follow-up.

Your church event has the potential to have a greater impact than you know. Not only will it touch the hearts of those attending, but it will have a ripple effect, influencing those planning, supporting, and volunteering, as well as the friends and families of attendees. Events help to carry out the mission of your church or ministry and inspire others to advance God’s Kingdom. They help bring unity and vision to your group and inspire life-change that ignites revival. Events not only help your congregants move beyond attending Sunday morning, but they can also bring new people into your community. Don’t underestimate the potential your future event can have, inspiring ordinary people in extraordinary ways. With the Spirit leading, your event has the power to change lives and equip people for their God-given purposes.

If you need assistance with your Association’s Fall Rally or any other event being held by your women’s group, please feel free to reach out to the ABWM Executive Board. We can connect you with mission workers within to state to share their work to the ladies at your meetings, provide ideas for activities and resources for Bible studies, and several of our board members are available to speak at your meetings as well. We look forward to serving you as your serve the women of your local church and community.
