Immanuel: God With Us

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
— Isaiah 9:6

As we seek to focus our attention on the Christ Child this advent season, may we be reminded that He left the riches of His Heavenly Kingdom, to be given a lowly birth, laid in a cow’s trough when he entered this earth.  He came to us so that we could see the mind, heart and will of God.  He did that so we could see, touch and experience His presence!!!

Recently I have been reflecting the many ways I have witnessed Jesus working in the lives of those He has brought in my path this past year.  As a Crisis Counselor and a Prison Ministry Volunteer, I marvel at the awesomeness of Christ as He touches and He transforms.  He never ceases to amaze me of who He is and the love He has displayed for His people.  The depths that he goes to show and guide us to Him.  He never ceases to amaze me when He displays who He is.

  • He gives strength to the weary and life to the lifeless!

  • He gives light in the darkness and purpose to the aimless!

  • He gives fulfillment to our emptiness and reason to the meaningless!

  • He gives comfort in our loneliness and gives fruit in our barrenness!

  • He gives hope to the hopeless with the promise of Heaven and what is to come!

  • He guides the faithful, He seeks the stray, He finds the lost!

  • He defends the weak, He comforts the oppressed,

  • He welcomes the prodigal, heals the sick, and cleanses the dirty.

  • He makes the baren beautiful again, restores the fallen, and mends the broken,

  • He blesses the poor, He fills the empty, He clothes the naked,

  • He satisfies the hungry, elevates the humble and forgives the sinner

In total trust and blind obedience, may we realize that our Jesus is Everything We Need!!! Thank you, Jesus, for coming to earth so that we may have a clearer understanding of who you are!!!

Prayer: “Our Most Gracious Heavenly Father, you never cease to amaze us as to Who you are.   You are always revealing new things to us and we stand Awestruck at your awesomeness.  As we continue to seek your face, your kingdom, our purpose in your plan, may we rest in Peace knowing that you are the Prince of Peace and you control all things. We trust you in all things even if we don’t understand it.  Please be with us as we continue to seek Jesus, the Christ Child and ponder of all the things that entails.   Thank you for being Immanuel – God with Us forever and ever Hallelujah and Amen.”
