2025 Women’s Day Recap

Emmanuel Baptist Church in Charleston was a wonderful host church for ladies from around the state at our Annual Women’s Day.  We had a wonderful time in the Lord worshiping, fellowshipping, and praising God.  The ladies across the state answered the call for women’s hygiene products for the United Way in Charleston.  We filled Sandy’s car full.  High school student Brielle Lyons with her grandfather accompanying her, touched all our hearts with her beautiful voice.  We elected a full slate for our ABWM Board including expanding our Area Coordinator positions to cover the whole state.  Koreen Villers had “Mounds” of inspiration with the installation service.  Gifting all the board with a special candy bar describing their duties.

The officers reminded us that there is still time to finish strong on all projects for 2025 and introduced us to the new projects for 2026.   We heard about ministries like Weirton Christian Center from Kim Weaver. Shelly Dawson shared about the project “Sewing Faith in Tribal Culture.”  Allyson Sexton spoke about the importance Baptist Campus Ministries had on her faith, life, and other college students.    During our break the ladies enjoyed boxed lunches in the Exhibit Hall, surrounded by a room full of outreaches offered through WVBC, International Ministries, and Palmer, plus there was a Christian Book Store on site.

In the afternoon, I was honored to bring the message.  Our theme was what to do while Being Still and knowing God is Lord (Psalm 46:10).  “Still” means to quieten, a deep silence and calmness. This world and our minds are filled with noises that try to distract us from the grace and love of God.  In order to quieten our minds and have that Emmanual “God with Us”, we need to Grow Spiritually, Serve Others, and Build a Faith Community.

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
— Hebrews 10:23-25

We closed the day by circling the church, holding hands, singing “Blest Be the Tie that Binds.” As the hymn states, our hearts in Christian love and fellowship of kindred minds would describe our day best.  We are excited to see where God takes ABWM in the future.
