Spring Rally in Kanawha Valley

The Kanawha Valley Association held the first spring rally for the 2026 Southwest Area.  The women were excited to see dear friends as they gathered at Dunbar First Baptist Church on Thursday, April 16th in the evening.

Sherry Buckalew, the president of the Kanawha Valley Association welcomed everyone and we thank the women at Dunbar First Baptist Church, for their kindness and warm hospitality. A beautiful devotion from Nita Keeney on ‘Preparing for eternity’ followed by special music.

Sandy Foster-Curry, State Mission and Service Coordinator gave an update of the 2025 MOP (Mission Outreach Project) of the Sewing Machines for the Kainos Ministry in Kenya and then she proceeded to introduce the 2026 MOP. The 2026 Mission Outreach for 2026 is to purchase a new ultrasound machine for Tura Christian Hospital located in West Garo, North East, India.  Rob Ely is taking the machine with his team sometime over the summer.  Salena George, Conference Coordinator for our State Women’s Ministry, will also be going with Rob.  Salena is an ultrasound tech and she will go with Rob’s team to teach them how to use the machine.  She came from Parkersburg to tell us her story of how God has called her to helping others through using specialized equipment like the ultrasound machine.

Rev. DaVontae Edwards, Pastor of FBC Dunbar, gave a special message on “The compassion of Christ – we must see what Jesus sees.”  Rev. Edwards had also visited the Tura Christian Hospital several years ago and gave us a slide show of his visit to the Hospital. Carolyn Saul, KVA Secretary gave the roll call of the churches and Judson Baptist of Belle received the award for having the most in attendance. Terrie Workman, KVA Treasurer gave the report that $1,000 was raised during this meeting to go toward the 2026 Mission Outreach Project of purchasing the ultrasound machine.

It was a beautiful evening with beautiful women.  Please find attached are some pictures of a wonderful evening.
